Made in Opa-locka is the creative project of artists/designers/architects Jennifer Bonner and Christian Stayner, along with project manager/OLCDC artist-in residence Germane Barnes, to help transform the Magnolia North neighborhood into a vibrant collection of small businesses and civic spaces. Chosen from the original call to artists in 2012, the BONNER+STAYNER team is working with entrepreneurial residents to brand and realize a cluster of micro-enterprises and community-oriented spaces that are creative design-driven urbanism housed in small, sculptural additions to single-family homes. The project has both small-scale economic opportunities for residents and is an unprecedented urban-scale public art project.
