Welcome to the 2024 Art of Transformation
It is a pleasure to introduce this year's Annual Art of Transformation (AOT) by Ten North Group, held during Miami Art Week alongside the celebrated Art Basel Miami.
Our 2024 theme, Black Aliveness and the Aesthetics of Being, takes inspiration from Kevin Quashie's groundbreaking book, Black Aliveness, or A Poetics of Being. This year's exhibitions highlight the powerful connection between African and African Diaspora literature and visual art. Since the arrival of Africans in the Ameri- cas, literature and visual expression have been vital ways to tell stories, challenge ideas, and reshape knowledge.
Our five-year series, selecting an African or Diasporic literary work as inspiration for visual exploration, continues this year. Following works by iconic authors such as James Baldwin’s The Fire Next Time, The Beautiful Human Love by Jacques Stephen Alexis, and I’ve Known Rivers by Langston Hughes, we are thrilled to explore Kevin Quashie's concepts of Black Aliveness, bridging text and image in fresh and inspiring creations.
Join us as we celebrate Black Aliveness with exhibitions, performances, films, and conversations addressing contemporary issues across the Black World.
Welcome back again!
